macdaddy

it's a jetta. it's a stick. it runs well. joe's stoked.

almost four years ago, we bought an '80-something camry from a dear elderly lady who was part of our church family. this car, which we fondly named ferdinand, breathed its last a week or so ago. it was joe's trusty car, getting him across town and back multiple times a day. so, he died (threw a rod), and joe suddenly needed new wheels.

a simple jaunt onto craigslist, and we found macdaddy, for kelly blue book price. the car has been thusly christened because he thinks he's "all that." you know what i mean - sunroof, reclined drivers seat, radio blasting R&B, and a rear license plate frame with that nasty blue beach-y hawaiian floral pattern on it that you find on almost every car seat cover in california. that's how we picked him up. as night and day from sweet ferdinand.

all that said, we've got macdaddy expanding his musical horizons. he's zippy and young and reliable. and we had the moolah to pay for it in full, which means we didn't inherit a car payment, which means it doesn't screw up our credit score, which means we can still buy a house in the future!

God has provided, and we are thankful. now i just need to learn how to drive a stick!
