at the well

on April 21, there was a wedding. nancy gamble joyously became mrs. jason utley. this was a beautiful, blessed event, long-awaited for in the hearts of us all, and much longer awaited for by the bride and groom. i appreciated so much the realness of the day. no pomp and circumstance, but a sober understanding of the work of God in a covenant of marriage and a full celebration of true joy with laughter, tears, fellowship, and beaty. jason also was paying more attention to his "crown of jewels" than he was to the pastor and didn't hear his cue for the "i do's". but everyone knew why. he was overcome and overjoyed. joe and i were honored and blessed to sing in a quartet for the ceremony, and it was a delight to sing to the Lord with them.

i LOVE how they hugged (they kissed too, i think). it's exactly how we've all felt after the vows are said and the rings are on: we're finally married! it's a rest like none other.

pastor steve and wendy watkins, our good friends. steve officiated the ceremony, and wendy assisted the wedding party down the aisle in musical bliss with her flute. she rocks!

who else could this possibly be?? :)
